Crazy Town, Rob Zombie, One Side Zero, Shuvel,
and current Guns N' Roses members Tommy Stinson
and Robbin Finck were among the capacity crowd at a
massive party for charity at producer Rick Rubin's
famed Hollywood Hills mansion Saturday night (August 25).
Others appearing included actors Andy Dick, Milla
Jovovich, and Nastassja Kinski. One Side Zero,
Shuvel, and Crazy Town turntablist DJ AM performed.
The event was to raise money for Schools On Wheels, a Los
Angeles-based charity providing education for homeless
children. Crazy Town frontman Epic Mazur tells LAUNCH
that he was there to support the cause. "When the right
people get involved in the right situations they can bring
together a lot of people. And so, it's fortunate that Rick
Rubin and the people that invited us here got involved because
maybe we never would have known about this cause."
The house is perhaps best known as the location of the
recording of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' 1991 album, Blood
Sugar Sex Magik, as well as others by Marilyn Manson,
Love & Rockets, and American Head Charge.
However, it's also known to be haunted, which was what most
appealed to actor Eric Balfour, from the series Six
Feet Under. "We're trying to have a seance here for
any non-living Playboy or Penthouse
models," Balfour tells LAUNCH. "I know there are
more important figures, maybe Abraham Lincoln, George
Washington, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, but
we really want to know these deceased Playmates and
Pets."
The event was closely monitored by fire marshals, and at
times the evening late-arrivals were forced to wait for access
on the sidewalk adjacent the property. The party also snarled
traffic down Laurel Canyon Boulevard throughout the night.
